The Battle for Nashville

On December 15 and 16, 1864, Union and Confederate forces fought in the hills and meadows just outside Nashville, Tennessee in what would turn out to be the last major battle in the Western Theater of the Civil War.  In February of 1862 Nashville was occupied by the Federal Army.  Now, almost three years later, the rebels were dug in on the outskirts of town hoping to recapture the city against what seemed insurmountable odds.  Comprised of interviews with leading historians, including Ed Bearss, we take you through the campaign into middle Tennessee and the decisive battle that concluded the end of the war. 58 min.
